Danielle Miller is a certified executive coach and lawyer with 18 years of combined experience in private practice, public service, sole practice and the professional regulatory field. In addition to supporting lawyers in the growth and development of their careers, Danielle has coached leaders in a variety of other areas including the not-for-profit sector, commercial real estate, sales and technology industries.
Danielle was drawn to coaching to support and inspire others, not only to realize their potential, but to discover their sense of purpose in doing so. Much work dissatisfaction and lack of engagement stems from losing sight of what one values most. Danielle works with clients to help them gain insight into their particular motivators and internal obstacles. Clients will be able to see a relationship between their own behaviour and outcomes and to use their own initiative, skill and judgment to solve problems, achieve results and develop constructive relationships. Danielle uses a non-directive, client-driven process, designed to help create self-awareness and empower her clients.
Over the course of her legal career, Danielle was fortunate to have worked in a broad range of practice environments giving her unique insight into the different opportunities, challenges and demands within the profession. After clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada, Danielle practised as a litigator at a leading national law firm, as an Assistant Crown Attorney with the provincial government, as a criminal appellate lawyer in sole practice, and as in-house counsel for a professional regulatory body. Prior to becoming a coach, Danielle was a director in the Professional Resources group of a major business law firm, equipping her with a behind-the-scenes perspective on the recruitment, talent management and professional growth and development of lawyers at all stages of their career from summer student to partner.
Danielle holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from McGill University, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Law from Osgoode. Danielle obtained a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. She is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF).
