Dave Veale interviews Chief Rob Simonds of the Saint John Fire Department as part of the Leadership Unleashed series of interviews with leaders.

Chief Rob Simonds of the Saint John Fire Departmenthas recently begun a Harvard University fellowship for senior executives in state and local governments.

“I need to always be aware of opportunities to engage the people I work with. Sometimes I think if my awareness isn’t where it needs to be, there are lost opportunites,” Simonds says.

About Chief Rob Simonds Rob has thought deeply about leadership issues and is a graduate of the master’s program in leadership at Roay Roads University in Victoria, B.C. This month, he began a Harvard University fellowship for senior executives in state and local governments. Simonds takes the study of leadership seriously; he has to because of the challenges of running a modern fire departmenht.
