In our last edition, I shared my personal journey with one-to-one coaching – how my coach supported me through a challenging time in my life.Â
The coaching unlocked new perspectives and helped me get back on my feet.Â
This time, I want to shift the focus to someone I have had the privilege of coaching – Brett Gallant.
When Brett first connected with Vision, he described being trapped in a vicious cycle of reactive leadership, working himself ragged to keep his small business afloat.Â
It was unsustainable, and it was taking its toll.
Sparked a revelation
What’s fascinating about Brett is that a big part of his journey of transformation began with a simple question.
Brett recalls how the question sparked a revelation within him, and a determination to change how he approached life and business. (Discover the question, and the changes it inspired in Brett's story, Sometimes one coaching conversation can change everything.)
His story reminds me that one of the most profound tools in coaching is the power of a well-timed question.Â
In coaching, the right questions challenge assumptions, ignite self-reflection, and inspire action. Over the years, we’ve seen how a simple, well-timed question can disrupt thinking and create new awareness around challenges or opportunities.
Consider this: what happens when someone hears a question that makes them pause – really pause – and reflect? It can shift perspectives, uncover hidden motivations, and even spark significant personal and professional changes.Â
A simple question can disrupt routine thinking. It’s not about assigning blame or prescribing solutions – it is about holding up a mirror, encouraging reflection, and inviting accountability.Â
Catalyst for change
For Brett, that moment became a catalyst for change, not just in health (125 pounds shed to date!) but in confidence, leadership, and business growth (600 per cent growth in monthly recurring revenue!).
Brett is an ideal coaching client: he is willing to push himself outside of his comfort zone, comfortable being accountable to his commitments and open to exploring new possibilities for himself and his business.Â
Coaching is as much about listening as it is about questioning. Powerful questions emerge from truly understanding where someone is at – emotionally, professionally, personally. They come from a place of curiosity and a genuine desire to support growth. And when clients are ready to engage deeply, the impact can be remarkable.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing stories from individuals who’ve experienced this transformative power firsthand. These aren’t just testimonials – they are real journeys marked by self-discovery, resilience, and growth. Whether it’s someone who has redefined their leadership style, found renewed purpose, or navigated personal challenges, each story underscores the same truth: coaching works when we’re willing to explore the tough questions.
It’s also a reminder of the amazing clients we have who fully invest in their growth and development as well as the diversity within our coaching team. Each coach brings unique strengths, perspectives, and approaches to the table. Through these stories, you’ll get a glimpse of the depth and breadth of experiences our clients have had. And perhaps you’ll find inspiration for your own journey.
Sincerely,Â
